Your safety and cosmetic goals are paramount. During your initial consultation at the Edinburgh Waterfront Private Hospital, we’ll carefully examine your mole and suggest the most appropriate removal strategy based on its size, type, location, your skin type, and personal preferences. If preferred, we may be able to remove the mole immediately, avoiding the need for a repeat appointment.

Surgical Excision. Ideal for larger moles or those requiring a biopsy, this method involves surgically removing the mole along with a margin of surrounding tissue. The site is then stitched closed. Every excision leaves a scar. We aim to minimise its visibility through careful incision placement and closure, and most scars fade considerably over 6–12 months. Removed tissue is routinely sent for histological analysis, which is included in the procedure price.

Shave Excision. Suitable for protruding moles, this technique involves shaving the mole level with the skin surface, usually resulting in a less noticeable scar. It's particularly effective for moles that stand out from the skin's surface.
