About this service

About Mole Removal

Moles, known medically as nevi, are common skin lesions that appear in diverse colours, sizes, and shapes. While many moles are benign, some may cause concern due to their size, placement, or visual impact. It's crucial to observe any changes in your moles, as such alterations could signify potential health issues.

We are dedicated to the safe and accurate removal of moles, tailoring the procedure to your individual requirements — careful mole removal whilst striving for the finest aesthetic results. During your consultation, we will identify the optimal method for removing your mole, prioritising both your safety and your satisfaction with the cosmetic outcome.

Healing & risks

Recovery, Risks & Scarring

You can go home the same day. Most wounds heal within 7–10 days, with a quick return to normal activity. Mild discomfort afterwards typically settles within a day or two. We provide tailored aftercare instructions and, if required, a follow-up appointment.

All surgical mole removals result in a scar, but we use precise techniques to minimise scarring, especially for facial or visible areas. No procedure can guarantee an invisible result.

See our patient information page for full aftercare guidance, and the BAPRAS patient guide to benign skin conditions.

Treatment methods

Mole Treatment Options

We offer two private mole removal options, tailored to the mole's size, type, location, your skin type, and personal preferences. Your exact price is always confirmed before treatment begins.

Surgical excision. Ideal for larger moles or those requiring a biopsy. The mole is removed along with a margin of surrounding tissue and the site is stitched closed, typically leaving a minimal scar. The removed tissue can be sent for pathology if required.

Shave excision. Suitable for protruding moles. The mole is shaved level with the skin surface, usually resulting in a less noticeable scar. Particularly effective for moles that stand out from the skin's surface.
