Mole Treatment Options
Surgical Excision
Ideal for larger moles or those requiring a biopsy, this method involves surgically removing the mole along with a margin of surrounding tissue. The site is then stitched closed, typically leaving a minimal scar. The removed tissue can be sent for pathology if required.
Shave Excision
Suitable for protruding moles, this technique involves shaving the mole level with the skin surface, usually resulting in a less noticeable scar. It's particularly effective for moles that stand out from the skin's surface.

03 Can I have a consultation and removal on the same day?
In many cases, yes. If the mole is suitable for same-day removal and you're happy to proceed, we can often carry out the procedure during your consultation visit, subject to clinical assessment.
04 How much does mole removal cost?
The consultation fee is £125. Mole removal procedures start from £595, depending on the size and location. All costs will be clearly discussed before treatment.
05 Is a referral required from my GP?
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly to arrange a consultation with our consultant plastic surgeon.
06 What types of moles do you remove?
We remove a range of benign skin lesions, including raised moles, flat moles, and those in cosmetically sensitive areas. Any mole that appears suspicious is sent for laboratory testing after removal.
07 Does mole removal leave a scar?
Some scarring is inevitable, but we use meticulous surgical techniques to minimise its appearance. Scar placement and aftercare are carefully considered to promote the best cosmetic result.
08 Is mole removal painful?
No. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you won't feel pain during treatment. Mild discomfort afterwards is common and usually short-lived.
09 How long is recovery after mole removal?
Most people return to normal daily activities within 24–48 hours. We provide full aftercare instructions to support healing and reduce visible scarring.
10 Can I drive home after my procedure?
If you're travelling from Stirling or Falkirk by car, we recommend bringing someone with you. Driving immediately after a local anaesthetic is not advised.
